Central Montana Foundation is the oldest community foundation in Montana! Organized by a group of visionary businessmen in 1984, the Foundation offers our donors a chance to give back to the community they love.

Our Mission: To receive and accept property exclusively for educational, cultural, charitable or benevolent purposes for the benefit, health and improvement of residents of the Central Montana area is such a way that the quality of life in Central Montana shall be enhanced, working alone and with any and all other persons and organizations doing similar work.

By working through the Foundation, worthy projects are able to provide donors with a tax deductible avenue for donations. CMF has 10 unrestricted permanent endowments from which income is used for its grant-making program. In a typical year CMF grants upwards of $175,000 to local organizations for healthcare, essential services, education, civic, recreational and cultural projects!

Permanent endowments and pass-through funds provide support exclusively to projects within the Central Montana area. CMF holds more than 200 of these funds, including its own unrestricted endowments, 11 rural community endowments, a variety of non-profit and tax-exempt organizations in Central Montana and scholarship funds. The 50+ scholarship endowments provide nearly $200,000 annually to scholarships to local students.
